“Operation Military Kids” Joining Friday Evening Activities Highlighting Support of Children of Deployed Parents
The St. Charles Companies this week welcomes the U.S. Air Force premier rock band, Max Impact, to the FREE St. Charles’ Sunset Concert Festival on June 8th. Commissioned in 2005, the band's seven members perform exciting original music -- rock, country, patriotic favorites as well as classic and current pop hits. In addition to entertaining military and civilian audiences in the United States, Max Impact has thrilled troops with their hard-rocking energy and amazing musical versatility at forward deployed locations including Iraq and Afghanistan. For more information on Max Impact, visit their website http://www.usafband.af.mil/ensembles/BandEnsembleBio.asp?EnsembleID=61.
Adding to the celebration and awareness of our armed forces will be representatives of Operation: Military Kids, the U.S. Army's collaborative effort with America's communities to support children and youth impacted by deployment. OMK's goal is to connect military children and youth with local resources in order to achieve a sense of community support and enhance their wellbeing. OMK works to raise community awareness and foster understanding of the deployment cycle on the military member, family, child and larger community. Stop by their table and see how you can have a positive impact on the children of deployed parents. For further information please visit their website at www.operationmilitarykids.org.
"We are fortunate to welcome home to St. Charles dozens of military men and women every day," said Craig Renner, vice president of marketing and public relations for The St. Charles Companies. "As these service men and women carry the banner for freedom in Afghanistan and around the globe, we believe it's important to support and thank them here in Southern Maryland. That's what this week's event is all about."
Rocking the food scene along with the band at St. Charles will be Chick- fil-A®, offering their famous hot chicken sandwiches, salads, wraps and delicious sides and drinks. The St. Charles Farmers Market will also be open from 4 – 7:30 PM Friday evening and will feature delicious produce, fresh flowers, desserts, baked goods, honey and hand-crafted soaps.
The Sunset Concert Festival is a summer-long arts festival sponsored by The St. Charles Companies and the Southern Maryland Agricultural Development Commission. Featuring a variety of local artists and musical genres, the concerts are being held every Friday night beginning at 7 p.m.
