Farmers Market, Local Artists, Romano Vineyard and Winery, Chick-fil-A® Join Cruisers for a Complete Night of Food and Entertainment
The St. Charles Companies this week welcomes the U.S. Navy Band Cruisers to the St. Charles free waterfront Sunset Concert Festival this Friday, June 29th at 7 p.m. As the U.S. Navy's premier contemporary entertainment ensemble, the Cruisers feature eight of the Navy's most dynamic performers. Formed in 1999 as a specialty unit of the United States Navy Band, the Cruisers takes its name from the Navy's versatile, flexible, multi-missioned ship – the Cruiser – and the band lives up to its namesake by having the capabilities of playing genres of music ranging from jazz & standards, rhythm & blues, classic rock, adult contemporary and pop as well as original material. This elite group has engaged and excited audiences of all ages throughout the U.S. and abroad with world-class musicianship and high energy, fun-filled performances. For more information, visit the Band’s website at http://www.navyband.navy.mil/cruisers.shtml
Along with the concert, residents and visitors from Waldorf and Southern Maryland can enjoy the St. Charles Farmers Market from 4-7:30 p.m. on Friday with delicious produce, fresh flowers, desserts, baked goods, honey and hand-crafted soaps and can dine on chicken sandwiches, salads, wraps, sides and drinks from Chick-fil-A®. The last Friday of each month is Local Artists Night, and several local artists will be on hand with beautiful handmade original art and craft products courtesy of Southern Maryland Arts and Culture (www.somdarts.com).
Joining the Cruisers, artists and Farmers Market on the waterfront venue once again will be Romano Vineyard and Winery, a Maryland-bred and family-run vineyard to the Farmers Market and Summer Concert venue. The vineyard is home to six wine grape varietals – Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Chambourcin, Vidal, Cayuga and Traminette – as well as six table grape varietals and only produces wines from the grapes grown in their vineyard and those of carefully selected custom growers. Quality over quantity is the hallmark of Romano wines. http://romanowinery.com/ (Proof of age required to purchase wine and wine cannot be opened in the O’Donnell Lake Restaurant Park venue.)
This week is also local wine and cheese week. Romano Winery will be joined by the P. A. Bowen farmstead, a Brandywine, Maryland farm that produces two signature artisan cheeses, Prince George’s Blue and Chesapeake Cheddar, available for sale during the concert while supplies last. http://pabowenfarmstead.com/
The Sunset Concert Festival is a summer-long arts festival sponsored by The St. Charles Companies and the Southern Maryland Agricultural Development Commission. Featuring a variety of local artists and musical genres, the concerts are being held every Friday night beginning at 7 p.m.
