Reggae Group Peter Humphrey and Oasis Band Open the 5th year of Free Lakefront Concerts
Charles County's most popular outdoor concert series returns May 3 when reggae band Peter Humphrey and Oasis Group kick off the Sunset Concert Festival at 7 p.m. on stage at O'Donnell Lake in St. Charles. With a mission to “Quench Your Musical Thirst”, this local band will bring Caribbean dance music, including reggae, calypso and steel drums, to the residents of St. Charles and neighboring communities. In the Washington area, The Oasis Band has opened for world-renowned performers such as Luciano, Sanchez, Morgan Heritage, Gregory Isaacs, Joseph Hill and Culture.
As in past years, Chick Fil A will be on hand to sell delicious chicken sandwiches, soft drinks, and other treats. Local artists will have their wares on display, and other food vendors will be on hand as well.
"We have an outstanding lineup of great bands this summer," said Craig J. Renner, vice president of public relations for St. Charles. "Crowd pleasers like the three military band performances; local favorites like Sara Gray and Jennifer Cooper with Groovespan; and performers who have become part of our series every summer, like Eric Scott, Sin Miedo, and John OLaughlin and the Blarney Stones. From reggae to rock and more, there will be something for everyone at O'Donnell Lake and the Sunset Concert Festival this summer."
The Sunset Concert Festival is a summer-long arts festival sponsored by The St. Charles Companies. Featuring a variety of local artists and musical genres, the concerts are being held every Friday night beginning at 7 p.m. from May 3rd through August 30th.
The annual St. Charles Farmers' Market returns the next day, Saturday, May 4 at 9 a.m. at O'Donnell Lake.
