OUTSTANDING SALSA BAND SIN MIEDO KICKS OFF 2012 SUNSET CONCERT FESTIVAL AND FARMERS MARKET

Thursday, May 10, 2012

The St. Charles Companies today announced the kickoff of the 2012 Sunset Concert Festival and Farmers Market this Friday at O’Donnell Lake in St. Charles. A weekly producer’s only farmer’s market, featuring locally-grown produce from farmers throughout Southern Maryland, will be open from 4:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Fridays.  Concerts begin at 7 p.m. O’Donnell Lake is at the intersection of St. Patrick’s Drive and Smallwood Drive in St. Charles, and includes Boston’s restaurant and the Hilton Garden Inn.

Leading off the concert series this year is crowd favorite, Sin Miedo (Spanish for fearless), one of the best Salsa bands in the Washington, DC area. Led by French pianist, Didier Prossaird, the name “sums up the band’s attitude toward music,” (Washington Post).  Sin Miedo is “a truly international group that makes the Afro-Cuban rhythms of Salsa and Mambo jump into your bloodstream and move your hips around,” (Washington Flyer). The band’s repertoire includes classic salsa hits from the 70’s to today, as well as Chacha Bolero and original music with a French twist. Because of their versatility, the band can switch from dance music to listening music with a large repertoire of Latin-Jazz. The Sunset Concert Festival is a summer-long arts festival sponsored by The St. Charles Companies and the Southern Maryland Agricultural Development Commission. Featuring a variety of local artists and musical genres, the concerts are being held every Friday night beginning at 7 p.m.
