Lynn Hollyfield, local singer and songwriter, kicked of the St. Charles Sunset Concert Festival last week. Explore St. Charles had the pleasure of taking some time to learn more about this talented musician.
ESC: We understand that you write your own songs. What topics inspire you?
LH: I get inspiration from personal experiences, relationships and nature
ESC: How old were you when you started playing?
LH: I was always interested in music from piano lessons to teaching myself how to play the ukulele. When I was ten I received as a gift an Epiphone acoustic guitar. I was hooked from there.
ESC: What is your favorite venue for performing?
LH: Local coffee houses like Sugar Loaf Coffee House, Homespun Coffee House, and New Deal Cafe. I also had the opportunity to play at the Birchmere and that was very exiting.
ESC: What are you listening to on your iPod?
LH: I listen to a variety of things. Right now I’m listening to Eddie Griffin John Hiatt, Carrie Cooper, Chatham Street and Sarah McLachlan.
