Kajun Kelley Returns to the Sunset Concert Festival

Monday, July 23, 2012

The St. Charles Companies this week welcomes the Kajun Kelley Band to the St. Charles free waterfront Sunset Concert Festival on Friday, July 27th at 7 p.m. Kajun Kelley is a veteran of the Washington DC/Baltimore music scene, earning a reputation as a well-respected singer/songwriter and musician, but in particular for being one of the best guitarists around. Improvising has become what the Kajun Kelley Band’s live shows are best known for. In addition to playing Kajun’s original music, the band has adapted a “no set list, all request” format. In an interview in the March 2011 issue of DC’s On Tap Magazine, Kevin Laliberte (McGinty’s Public House) summed it up nicely, saying about his favorite band, “Kajun Kelley. He is an amazing guitarist. You can ask him to play any song and he will play it ten times better than the original.” Kajun will be performing a number of songs off his CD's as well as select covers. http://www.kajunkelley.com/

Along with the concert, residents and visitors from Waldorf and Southern Maryland can enjoy the St. Charles Farmers Market from 4-7:30 p.m. on Friday with delicious produce, fresh flowers, desserts, baked goods, honey and hand-crafted soaps and can dine on chicken sandwiches, salads, wraps, sides and drinks from Chick-fil-A®.

The last Friday of each month is Local Artists Night, and several local artists will be on hand with beautiful handmade original art and craft products courtesy of Southern Maryland Arts and Culture (www.somdarts.com).

The Sunset Concert Festival is a summer-long arts festival sponsored by The St. Charles Companies and the Southern Maryland Agricultural Development Commission. Featuring a variety of local artists and musical genres, the concerts are being held every Friday night beginning at 7 p.m.
