Local Music, Local Winery Highlighted at St. Charles' Sunset Concert Festival June 28

Thursday, June 27, 2013

Southern Maryland jam band, WaCaHaSen, will entertain on the St. Charles, MD waterfront stage on June 28th at 7:00 in another free Sunset Concert Series event. WaCaHaSen features former Nanjemoy Creek Boys cofounders Steve Cavanaugh (guitar, vocals) and Mike Wathen (keyboards, vocals), backed by rhythm section JP Harrell (bass) and Eric Thomsen (drums). Their originals and covers provide a structure from which they fuse rock, jazz and funk styles with a propensity towards free-form, extended improvisation.

Chick-Fil-A will be on hand to sell delicious chicken sandwiches, soft drinks, and other treats. Local artists will have their wares on display, and other food vendors will be on hand as well.

Romano Vineyard and Winery, a Maryland-bred and family-run vineyard will return to the Sunset Concert Series boardwalk on June 28th in one of three visits this summer. The vineyard is home to six wine grape varietals – Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Chambourcin, Vidal, Cayuga and Traminette – as well as six table grape varietals and only produces wines from the grapes grown in their vineyard and those of carefully selected custom growers.  Quality over quantity is the hallmark of Romano wines.  (Proof of age required to purchase wine and wine cannot be opened in the O’Donnell Lake Restaurant Park venue.)

The Sunset Concert Festival is a summer-long arts festival sponsored by The St. Charles Companies. Featuring a variety of local artists and musical genres, the concerts are being held every Friday night through August 30th.

For more information, visit us on Facebook at stcharlesmd. Bands perform in the promenade area of the boardwalk, which is in the center of the property. Concerts will end at dusk and all performances are free and open to the public.
