Lennar Corporation and Corrigan Sports Enterprises (CSE) announced today the second annual St. Charles Running Festival Presented by Lennar will take place on April 14, 2012. The festival will consist of three different distances (10 miles, 5k and a kids fun run) and proceeds from the event will benefit local charities, including Special Olympics. "Lennar is proud to continue our association with this great event," said Jonathan Tepper, Regional Director of Sales and Marketing for Lennar. "With a day full of fun events, supporting local youth sports and charities, it is a great showcase for the many positive things that are happening in St. Charles."

The festival will lead runners throughout the roads of Charles County with Regency Furniture Stadium serving as the focal point. The preliminary design of the scenic and mostly flat 10-mile course has runners starting at Regency Furniture Stadium, then proceeding north up Piney Church Road, west on Billingsley Road, and south on St. Charles Parkway. The second half of the race continues south on Radio Station Road, east on to La Plata Rd, then back on to Piney Church Road once again before finishing outside of the stadium.

The 5k course starts and finishes at the stadium and is a basic up and back loop on Piney Church Rd. The Chick-fil-A Kids Fun Run will be contained within the parking lots of the stadium. The day's events coincide with the annual Fan Fest celebration hosted by the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs.

Entry fees for the three races are $65 for the 10-Miler, $30 for the 5K and $10 for the Kids Fun Run. For more information or to register visit or call 410.605.9381.

“We are excited about the return of the St. Charles Running Festival in April,” said Candice Quinn Kelly, president, Charles County Board of Commissioners.  “The festival was well received and attracted many visitors to the county last year, and we expect an even larger turnout for this year’s event, which means a boost for the county’s tourism and economic development efforts.”

"We are glad to once again welcome runners from around the country to St. Charles," stated Craig J. Renner, vice president of marketing for The St. Charles Companies. "Corrigan Sports has planned another great event, one that is going to continue to grow in stature and participation among runners."

"Families are a cornerstone of our business, and we are pleased to continue to be part of this family-friendly event," said Ken Weikel, Operator of two Chick-fil-A restaurants in Waldorf, and co-sponsor of the Kids Fun Run.

The county and event sponsors have once again partnered with Corrigan Sports Enterprises (CSE), the same sports marketing and event management company that puts on the extremely successful Baltimore Running Festival, to help stage a first-class event. The 2011 Baltimore Running Festival attracted more nearly 25,000 runners from every state and generated more than $30M in economic impact.

CSE President Lee Corrigan said, “Our running festival format has proven to be wildly successful for more than a decade. We had a great time in Charles County last year and Mother Nature owes us one.”
