Highlight National Skin Cancer Awareness Month
While the rates of most cancers in the U.S. are declining, the rate of skin cancer has been climbing steadily. It is estimated that one in five Americans will develop skin cancer in the course of a lifetime.
Skin cancer can be extremely disfiguring and potentially deadly. Fortunately, if detected early, most skin cancers are 100% curable.
As part of National Skin Cancer Awareness Month, Mid-Atlantic Skin (www.midatlanticskin.com), located at 173 St. Patrick’s Drive, Suite 201, in Waldorf, is offering free professional skin cancer screenings:
• Wednesday, May 23
• Wednesday, May 30
Screenings are available between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. To schedule an appointment, please call (301) 396-3401. Additional information on skin cancer is available from The Skin Cancer Foundation (www.skincancer.org).
