Fishing Hot Spots in Southern Maryland

Monday, August 8, 2011
Whether you’re a serious angler or just enjoy an excuse to spend a few hours in the great outdoors, consider casting your lines in Maryland's inland fishinghot spots this summer. Southern Maryland offers so many places to fish this season. Don't miss out! Explore Wheatley LakeSt. Mary's LakePoint Lookout State Park and Smallwood State Park, to name a few.

If you’re a recreational fisherman or fisherwoman under the age of 16, you don’t need a license in order to fish in Maryland.  Otherwise, make sure that you’re properly licensed before casting your line.  Non-tidal/freshwater fishing licenses can be purchased to cover you for 3 days, 7 days or a full year.

Visit the Department of Natural Resources for information on license requirements, options, and to download the relevant application or visit Take Me Fishing Maryland.
