On June 10, The Charles County Arts Alliance (CCAA) will present the annual River Artsfest. The festival is held on the Village Green in Indian Head, from 11 am until 5 pm. River Artsfest is the culminating event of the CCAA’s year, as well as the largest festival of its kind in Charles County.
The event celebrates ALL the arts including visual, performing and literacy, in addition to celebrating our beautiful river and local environment. The free festival includes music, dance, author readings, and fine art for sale, and often features booths from local environmental, historic, and museum groups. Hands-on art activities and demos are encouraged. Last year’s festival was attended by more than 1,400 and showcased 35 visual artists and 13 performances.
This year’s Artsfest will feature, for the first time, a “Wearable Art” Fashion Show! Local artists are encouraged to participate by having their wearable items showcased and then available for sale following the show. “Wearable Art” includes upscale, boutique-quality jewelry, hand-painted or screened designs on clothing and accessories, knit or crocheted items, and more.
The event is an excellent family outing for residents of all ages as well as a fantastic opportunity for local artists to show off their work. If you’re an artist interested in presenting, or you’d just like to learn more about the event, visit the CCAA’s web site.
