Frequenting local farmers’ markets is a great way to eat healthy, while supporting local agriculture. Locally grown fruit and vegetables are a market staple, but you may also find eggs and treats like jams and jellies, baked goods, and more. There are two markets right in our backyard.

The St. Charles Farmers’ Market is located at 10400 O’Donnell Place, Waldorf. It’s open on Fridays from 4:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., beginning April 15 through September 2. The St. Charles Farmers’ Market accepts Farmers Market Nutrition Program Checks (FMNP) – Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) and Senior - as well as Fruit and Vegetable Checks (FVC). The contact phone number is 240-427-1204. Stock up on fresh, local produce and then enjoy the Sunset Concert at O’Donnell Lake at 7:00 p.m.! Concerts are held every Friday night through Labor Day Weekend.

The Waldorf Farmers’ Market is located on Festival Way in Waldorf. It’s open on Wednesdays from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., from May 4 through November 12. FMNP Checks (WIC and Senior), as well as FVC, are also accepted here. The contact phone number is 301-934-8571.

This Southern Maryland Online Page provides a list of additional Southern Maryland markets, including one in La Plata.
