October Family Fun

Friday, September 30, 2016

Hello October! Charles MD Macaroni Kid is excited to help St. Charles families create memories easier around the county. This month I am bringing you my upcoming Fall favorites. October brings vendor fairs, corn mazes and pumpkin everything! Best part? There are many options for cheap and free fun for your family all around the county! From now till Christmas there will be a packed event calendar for your family on Charles MD Macaroni Kid site.

My favorite local Corn Maze & Fall Festival

Celebrate Charles Fall Fest October 22nd at Regency Furniture Stadium
Free and fun for the whole family. Kids will enjoy the Trick or Treat Trail, Family Fun Zone and live entertainment.

Middleton Cedar Hill Farms Fall Festival 13130 Cedar Hill Place, Waldorf, Maryland 20601

Get half off admission with an exclusive Macaroni Kid coupon, so you only pay $5 per person for an 8 acre corn maze, hay ride, and more! This year the corn maze pays tribute to their cousin Nathan who passed while serving the US Airforce. My family goes every year and we enjoy the low cost but ample amount of fun. It isn’t a money pit and is close to home!

Fall Photos

This is the perfect time to get your holiday photos ready. I have a few spots I love to get candid images of the kids and family playing. These spots are also great to enjoy family time together.

Mt. Aventine at Chapman State Park 3452 Ferry Pl, Indian Head, MD 20640

A hidden away gem in Indian Head that you probably haven’t visited before. Besides a gorgeous mansion creating a nice background that also faces the Potomac, it has a beautiful tree arch that is gorgeous all year. Mt. Aventine’s Sunday Open Houses open the gates to drive closer. If you go any other time, you will have a further walk to reach the mansion and tree arch. Free entry.

Smallwood State Park 2750 Sweden Point Rd, Marbury, MD 20658

A fun spot for families to camp during the Fall or just go for the day to enjoy the recycled tire playground! Pictures at the marina with the Potomac behind you with the Fall foliage is sure to be gorgeous. While there, enjoy the outdoor sculptures at Mattawoman Creek Art Center too. There is a short walking trail to enter next to Point Discovery Center. Gate fee per car during the week $3-$5 weekend is per person.

George Washington Birthplace National Monument 1732 Popes Creek Road Colonial Beach, VA 22443

This gorgeous and historical land is just across the bridge 40 minutes away, just around the corner from Colonial Beach. This is my favorite spot to take family visiting. It is free to visit and full of history! Gorgeous scenery all year round, but nothing compares to the beautiful colors it offers at Fall. Kids can run freely around the grounds and see a few animals. Many opportunities for photos, but don’t forget about the bridge, it’s a bit hidden but worth the photo opportunity! Free entry

Fun fact for the kids- James Monroe birthplace is 10 minutes away from George Washington’s, along with James Madison’s birthplace only 20 minutes away near Port Royal. So the 1st, 4th and 5th United States Presidents were all born in the area!

Macaroni Kid is a free resource for families that puts all the local fun in one spot, so you can have fun with your family-easier! Visit www.charlesmd.macaronikid.com to see what is happening around Charles County. The event calendar is full of fun, the weekly newsletter is sent out on Sundays so you can plan your fun for the week! All for Free, subscribe so you don’t miss anything.
