May is Military Month in St. Charles

Sunday, May 1, 2016

May is Military Appreciation Month here in St. Charles, and over the next few weeks we will be honoring our active duty, separated, and retired military along with our community partners: the USO, Chick-fil-A of Charles County, and the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs.
On May 6 and May 20, we’ll be sponsoring Salute the Troops night at the Blue Crabs. All active duty, retired and separated military and their families will receive free tickets to the Blue Crabs home games these Friday nights, which include the popular post-game fireworks. The USO will be on hand with information about their programs in support of our military families, and will V-Connections, a local charity that helps veterans in Southern Maryland gain access to benefits and programs they are available to our military.
May 19 is a big day of recognition. At noon St. Charles employees will be donating and serving lunch to active duty personnel stationed at the base in Indian Head, in conjunction with our partners at the USO. Later that night, our 2016 concert series kicks off, with the US Army band Down Range making their first appearance in St. Charles. The concert starts at 7 p.m. at O’Donnell Lake.
On May 25, Chick-fil-A will be hosting their annual military appreciation night at the St. Charles Town Center. This annual event features a wide array of local businesses, charities and service organizations that provide programs and services to the military community. The event is from (TIME???) in the parking lot of the town center, outside of the food court entrance.
With all the great events this month, it’s important to note that St. Charles and our community partners will be recognizing our military all summer long, with additional Salute the Troops nights and concerts by Navy-affiliated bands like Country Current, the Sea Chanters, and the US Naval Academy’s Electric Brigade. This May and all summer long, St. Charles and our community partners are proud to show our appreciation for our military residents, and all they have contributed to our nation and our community.
