St. Charles is the all-American place to be to catch fireworks and enjoy family fun this holiday weekend.
The fun begins July 3, when the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs open a three-game homestand against the Sugar Land Skeeters. Gametime is $7:05; tickets can be purchased at www.somdbluecrabs.com Fireworks display takes place after the 7th inning.
All kind of fun is in store on July 4. The Blue Crabs first pitch is at 6:35, and includes another fireworks display for the holiday. While tickets are required for the game, outside the stadium Charles County will sponsor the annual "Celebrate Charles, A Fun-Filled Fourth," on the 4th of July featuring food, and entertainment. Parking and admission are free.
Great live music is included, featuring local favorite Sam Grow as well as The British Invasion Band. The event includes a "Best of Charles Marketplace," with vendors from around the county participating.
Parking will be available at La Plata High School (6035 Radio Station Road, La Plata) and St. Charles High School adjacent to the stadium. A shuttle from La Plata High School will be available.
Saturday night also includes the annual Smallwood Village fireworks, sponsored by the Smallwood Village Association. Fireworks are at dusk; park or walk to the Smallwood Village Shopping Center, and take a chair or blanket and enjoy the view from the nearby lake.
