Where is the school located?
St. Charles High School is located on a 99-acre site that was donated to the County by St. Charles, off Piney Church Road and adjacent to Regency Furniture Stadium. The school is situated in the center of the 9,100 acre master planned community that 40,000 residents call home. The school is being built to LEED specifications at a total cost of $73 million.
How large is the school?
When complete, St. Charles High School will house an estimated 1,600 students and will relieve overcrowding at high schools throughout the County. The 285,000-square foot school is a vertical school that stacks four academic houses on four floors and contains 78 teaching stations. The school includes core capacity for 1,920 students, which means hallways, restrooms and the cafeteria are built a little larger, anticipating growth and possible future use of trailers. Athletic features include a football stadium with an eight-lane track; bleacher seating for 1,500 home/500 visitors; 14 fields including football, baseball, softball, soccer, field hockey and lacrosse, and eight tennis courts.

The school is scheduled to open in August 2014 the first day of school for the 2014-2015 school year.
What is a digital classroom?
A digital classroom is a multi-use dome theater that uses high resolution, three dimensional graphics and surround sound to enhance learning experiences for students. Plans for the digital classroom include use by all county schools, students and the community.
What is Science on a Sphere?
Science on a Sphere is a room-sized globe that provides students with visual instruction about science, the earth and the environment. Developed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA), this powerful educational tool uses computers and video projectors to display animated, 3-dimensional data on a six-foot diameter sphere. This feature will also be available to students at all schools and the community.
Who will attend St. Charles High School?
The school is scheduled to open with 9th, 10th and 11th grade students, and go to four grades in its second year of operation. Homes in St. Charles' Gleneagles and Fieldside neighborhoods have been zoned to attend this high school when it opens in 2014.
